Top 10 reasons I love baseball

I know that most 28-year-old women could probably go an entire year without watching a single inning of baseball and not think that a thing was missing from their life. I, however, am not like most 28-year-old women in many ways- and this is one of them. I... LOVE... baseball. Let me tell you why.

1. The boys are really nice to look at. At least some of them- and the camera people love to zoom up real close to them often throughout the broadcast. This is probably the girliest reason that I like baseball.

2. I'm a huge White Sox fan, and have been for years. I love going to the website and seeing "world champions" pasted all over the place. You have to understand, that historically I was just happy when they broke .500.

3. Jon Garland. Don't ask me why, I have been a fan of this boy since the first game he started with the White Sox. And right now he is the most consistant pitcher for the Sox. Kind of the same concept as #2.

4. A.J. Pierzynski. I hated him when he played for the Twins, but now I love his hard-assed, in-your-face mentality.

5. It doesn't get much better than a beer in one hand, and a hot dog in the other at the ballpark.

6. Guys are impressed when you can quote baseball stats. It probably doesn't help my problem of this-is-Carolyn-my-buddy/pal/friend, vs. this-is-girlfriend-material. Oh well.

7. Today Ozzie yelled at Garland for NOT hitting a batter. Jon tried twice and missed the batter both times, and boy it looked like he heard about it in the dugout. Ozzie even said in the press conference that he was mad Garland missed. We HAVE to retaliate when ourplayers get hit, he said. (At least that's what I THINK he said... he's really hard to understand.) What other sport can you get in trouble for NOT causing physical injury to another player? Priceless.

8. You can watch the game and do any of the following things at the same time: laundry, cleaning, sleeping, homework, sex, sleeping, napping, ... oh hell, you can do anything while you watch the game. And here's the thing.... NOT MISS A THING. Not anything you won't catch in a 30-second highlight reel. This may seem like a negative, but it's one of my favorite things about watching baseball.

9. Jon Garland waved at me once. Mostly because I was screaming his name and waving a sign, but he might have looked at me while he waved... and that is worth it. My poor friend was slouched waaaay down in her chair from embarrassment, but I was so CLOSE to him... I couldn't resist. =)

10. The baseball season is 8 months long and there is a game on nearly every day. Yay.

To add a link to your post, you just highlight the word/phrase that you want to add the link to, and you click on "add link" (third icon from the left at the top of your blog posting area - from left to right, I think it's B for bold, I for italics and then there's a green circle/bug looking blob thingy that you push to "add link." When you click on the green blob thingy (very technical, I know) it will bring up a URL space where you can type the webpage that you want to link to...
That probably wasn't very clear, but hopefully you can figure it out.

Courtney--it took me a while, but I understand the synonyms. I'm proud of myself.

Carolyn and all the other bloggers reading this--Jon Garland is NOT HOT!!! Seriously. I've seen much better up close!

My favorite team is New York Yankees. I love them because they play baseball like gods! I watch them quite often now at the Yankee stadium.
